HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTY!

Today...New Year's Eve...is Kristy's birthday! YEAH!!! She's celebrating in 4 feet of snow and loving it (obviously, didn't take after her dad). He's counting down the days until warm weather hits.

We're looking forward to graduation from the CHP academy and a new baby for 2009. We wish all of our family and friends good health and a great year full of adventure. Life is too wonderful to be grumpy or sad.

We're on our way to two parties...whoo whoo...Happy Birthday Kristy and Happy New Year to all of you!

Whew!!! What a Storm!

Flashback from last February! Two of the kids and their families came over for Christmas...barely...and ended up staying overnight. We had a crazy storm that closed down a major street to the freeway, the wind was blowing, snow blowing and we had...once again...cars with flashers on because of the "whiteout".

We had electricity, so we were fine. Good time to think of emergency preparedness items though...luckily, we're good in that department!

The kids had a great time and they all packed up ready to go home today.

Chuck and some neighbors have been busy plowing and snow blowing other neighbors out so they have access to their driveways. He just left with our neighbor to haul out a family member who has a stuck car somewhere and she has a new baby.

I think Chuck is REALLY looking forward to next week!

Here is a pic of what our son and some of the grandkids did last night.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Merry Christmas everyone!! Our morning started out with a phone call from our oldest daughter...."Well, it's been eventful so far", was how she started. I know my children well enough to know that probably wasn't a good thing!

Her mother-in-law was stuck in the snow on the way to breakfast with the grandchildren. My son-in-law loaded the truck up with shovels and headed out to rescue his mom. "I'll be back and then we'll open presents" he said as he braved the snowstorm outside.

He found his mom and got her out within 5 minutes ('cause he's the man). She decided to go back home and he started his journey through the winter wonderland and blur of white on the streets. His encounters included MANY cars stuck on the side of the road. Being the gentleman he is, he pulled over, brought out the shovels and they all joined in helping each other out of the snow. He even helped the fire department shovel people out until a car spun out and hit my son-in-laws truck and put it into the ditch...sad thing is, he knew the guy that hit him (good friend). He eventually got pulled out and headed home and straight to the last of the hot water in the shower. (Did I mention that during this...the electricity went out at their house?).

We're not sure if people are coming over for the turkey/ham dinner that is in my frig or not...maybe Christmas will be postponed until tomorrow...we roll with the punches around here.

I've been watching neighbors on quads w/plows plowing the streets. Chuck is out there doing our street (we're thinking the city snowplows are a little busy right now). One neighbor hooked up a sled to his quad and is going up and down with the kids. Another neighbor is on his snowmobile. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

We'll see how the day goes, the presents aren't going anywhere, so we'll extend our holiday until people get here.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Don't Mess With Things You Don't Understand!

I just learned a horrible lesson!!! Thought I would update the blog with fun things...hit a stupid key...changed the ENTIRE look of the blog and lost everything! You would think I would find the "old" set-up, but nothing. I was ready to erase everything, but I'm too stubborn for that. Stay tuned...the detective part of me is on the prowl!

Definitely Looopy!

We just put in 9 hrs. at the Bishop's Storehouse, with a constant stream of people standing out in the snow waiting to get in. Every muscle in my body hurts, so what do I do...I come home, go into the kitchen, open the cupboard to get Motrin...AND INSTEAD, take my thyroid and blood pressure pill...for the second time today! Sooooo, if you don't hear from me in the next couple days, there's a reason for that.

I have officially lost it! I must say, it's absolutely beautiful outside. We definitely will be having a white Christmas this year. Chuck had to plow at 7:00 p.m. so we can find the driveway (I'm surprised he got up the driveway). I really love it when it snows, it's gorgeous.

4th Annual Boyack Family Christmas Partae...

Sleet, ice and snow could not deter the annual family Christmas party! This year it was held at Kim's and there were 25 of us. We decided a brunch at 10:00 a.m. would be perfect and the rest of the day would be involved with last-minute shopping, tubing in the snow and relaxing! Kim and Dan went shopping, the "boys" went tubing and we did the relaxing! Allie and Paige came over for a whopping game of "Sorry" and homemade bread that Allie helped make...she did a darn good job too.

We started the festivities with applesauce pancakes by Charlie, hash brown casserole w/ham by Kim, sausage by Kelli and Dad, fruit compote by Cathy, chocolate milk by Lindy and O.J. by Kellie. It was deelish! Then the boys humored us with a relay race to "don" Santa's beard (via cotton balls and vasoline). Didn't know it could go from innocent to out-and-out cheating, knocking down the opponents cotton ball bowl...really!!...it was like our Easter egg hunt all over again!) The little ones had 15 seconds to fill their stockings w/trinkets and candy...afterwards they had to give their treasure to the cousin to their left. (The look on their faces).

We had the Christmas Ball of crepe paper with 21 treasures hidden inside go around the room and then the famous WHITE ELEPHANT gift exchange! Tori read the story and we followed our clues to finally end up with our treasured possessions. I can honestly say...I have my gift ready for next year...thanks to Brie and Jay.

Until the next year...Merry Christmas Boyack Family!

Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman...

Chuck fixed the quad battery, plowed the driveways and sidewalks, came into the house, kicked off his shoes and....BAM! It's been heavily snowing and blowing since 2:00 p.m. Can't even see out our windows unless you close one eye and squint! There is a crazy teenager outside doing wheelies on his quad...but they don't realize it's cold out there anyway. I told Chuck it was a good experience and when it quits snowing...he can do it all over again!

Catch-Up Time!

Oh my gosh...I can't believe nothing has been posted for 7 weeks! My camera went on the blitz and life has been crazy!!

Dave, Audra and the kids came down for Thanksgiving and we had a great time. It was fun seeing how much baby Gavin has grown, along with the girls. They always have such a fun time when the cousins come over. Of course, Audra and I went shopping the day after Thanksgiving (and so did Chuck...in fact, he left before I did!).

Jay, Brie and Khloe came over, along with Kim, Dan and the girls. Dave had brought his Wii System down and "taught" all of us how easy it is to get "booed" off the stage when playing guitar. I think I lasted 2 minutes...it was disheartening to see my character pick up the guitar, throw it to the ground, and walk off stage. Yeah...that is why I did not pursue music as a career choice!

The kids had fun playing, Kim's family and Dave's family went to Temple Square to see the lights. When they left for home, Dave got caught in a snowstorm in Rock Springs. It took them a little longer to get home.

Brie came back from California after a month visiting with family. It was good to see Khloe and her and settling in for the holidays in their place.

We've been really busy with church callings and the storehouse.

The girls have been busy with dance and choir productions and we've hit them all! I love watching them on stage. The pics that were taken REALLY turned out dark.. ): I'm blaming it on the camera...not the owner of the camera. Another career choice I didn't get involved in.

We're ready for Christmas (I think). I'm sure there's probably something I forgot.

Chuck is actually enjoying his "snow toys". The quad battery quit when he tried to plow the driveway, so he went to the blower. Something else to tinker with. He's counting down the days of snow leaving (sorry Charlie...the snow just started!).
